Camping in Gran Canaria is a great way to see the island’s amazing nature, like its tall pine trees, and cool volcanic areas. Whether you love camping or are trying it for the first time, there are lots of places to stay that everyone will enjoy. The weather is nice all year, making it a perfect spot to spend time outside, look at the stars, and explore fun trails. No camping is allowed on beaches.
If you want to camp in any of the following areas, you need to have a permit, before showing up:
You can do it online, but first need to visit the local government office so they verify your identity. If you want to save time, you might as well get the permit the first time you visit this office. Here is the address:

Tip: Go to the office on the first day of the month to get priority. Campsite spots in Gran Canaria are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so showing up early increases your chances of securing the best locations.

You can see a complete list of camping sites by going here (opens in a new window). Only the three areas mentioned above (Santa Cristina, Finca de Osorio y el Galeón) require you to get a permit. For all the other ones, you can go, but access will be restricted once they fill up.
